The Andrew Young School leads with social and economic justice, helping governments, nonprofits and others shape good policy through interdisciplinary centers and departments that inform, influence and guide our ever-evolving digital world. The Department of Criminal Justice & Criminology encourages students to reimagine a future where social justice is the norm. As Georgia’s premier center for the study of public safety, victimology, criminology, criminal reform and justice, the department is ranked No. 22 in the nation by the U.S. News & World Report.
All undergraduate students in the department are required to gain experience in this field prior to graduation by completing an internship in a local, state, federal or public service agency dedicated to some aspect of public safety practice or policy. Many create lasting, positive change in their organizations. Every semester, a number of these students are offered permanent jobs at the conclusion of their internships. Upon graduation, our students are recruited by local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Secret Service.
By donating this year, you can help fund our two major development initiatives:
1) redesigning all criminal justice courses to be "no-cost courses," so that students do not have to pay for textbooks or other resources needed to support their learning
2) in partnership with other top PhD programs nationwide, launching a rotating summer consortium that will bring PhD students from under-represented groups to campus for a two-week scholarship and professional development workshop that will prepare them to join the professoriate and reshape our thinking about crime and justice.
Your gift is more crucial than ever to help support future leaders and policymakers who work towards social justice and equity. Please support our criminal justice students with a gift today!
We did it again! With the support of the entire Panther Family, we set many new records this year on Georgia State Day. More than 2,700 gifts generated over $930,000. Donors supported 258 university initiatives and unlocked 54 challenges and matching gift opportunities.
Thousands of Panthers roared to celebrate Georgia State Day. Our fourth annual day of giving has raised more than $823,000 from 2,530 gifts, and we're still counting!
Thanks to the thousands of donors who helped support Georgia State's students, colleges, programs, and centers over the last 1 day, 9 hours, and 13 minutes.
As we finalize counting our gifts, we hope you will check back here to see our final count.
