The Andrew Young School leads with social and economic justice, helping governments, nonprofits and others shape good policy through interdisciplinary centers and departments that inform, influence and guide our ever-evolving digital world. The Department of Economics prepares students to understand how economic inequality and social injustice are inextricably intertwined. Students in the department participate in internship programs like the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance to gain firsthand experience in evidence-based research, data analytics, and other digital tools, and the department leads the Southeast in experimental methods and international programs.
The department’s STEM Economics program is one of only two such programs in the University System of Georgia; fewer than two dozen economics programs across the country have achieved this designation.
