The Center for Hellenic Studies at Georgia State is arguably the most vibrant Hellenic Studies program in the Southeast. We are committed to celebrating the Greek phenomenon in the broadest terms, both historically and geographically. In doing so, we highlight Hellenism's cosmopolitan commitments, seeing it as an essential piece of world heritage. The Center for Hellenic Studies not only creates a space for students to study Greek culture and history, but it has also created essential partnerships with academic programs both in the United States and abroad. We offer study abroad opportunities for our students in Athens, Corfu, Crete, Cyprus and Thessaloniki. We have long been recognized for our support of academic programs in Atlanta as well as archaeological work in Greece.
It is the financial and cultural commitment of donors that enable programs such as ours to prosper and to expand the reach of our cultural and academic mission. Your support ensures a robust year of public programing filled with film screenings, literary readings, music concerts and public lectures, culminating in this year's partnership with Kennesaw State University in hosting "The Year of Greece."
We did it again! With the support of the entire Panther Family, we set many new records this year on Georgia State Day. More than 2,700 gifts generated over $930,000. Donors supported 258 university initiatives and unlocked 54 challenges and matching gift opportunities.
Thousands of Panthers roared to celebrate Georgia State Day. Our fourth annual day of giving has raised more than $823,000 from 2,530 gifts, and we're still counting!
Thanks to the thousands of donors who helped support Georgia State's students, colleges, programs, and centers over the last 1 day, 9 hours, and 13 minutes.
As we finalize counting our gifts, we hope you will check back here to see our final count.
