GSD Athletics

At a time when our success only stands to grow, it’s more expensive than ever to remain competitive. To keep the ball - and our momentum - rolling, we need your support. You can help us continue the transformational growth of our athletics program by donating to the Panther Athletic Club or one of our below sport funds today. Thank you for supporting Georgia State student-athletes!

This past year was the best in Georgia State Athletics history, and the future is looking bright for the Panthers. Georgia State led the Sun Belt Conference and finished an all-time high No. 88 in the final 2022 LEARFIELD Division I Director's Cup standings, which measures overall success in all sports. Here are a few of the highlights:

  • Two NCAA tournament wins and a No. 7 national ranking by beach volleyball, the highest final ranking ever for any Georgia State team.
  • Eight wins in football, another bowl win and a victory over a Top 25 team.
  • A berth in March Madness, the NCAA men’s basketball tournament for the fourth time in the last eight years.
  • A win in the ultra-competitive NCAA men’s soccer tournament.
  • Thirty wins in baseball, including a record 15 victories in the Sun Belt Conference.
  • Conference title and NCAA berth in men's tennis.
  • Sun Belt Conference regular-season championship in women's tennis.

Even more importantly, the Panthers continued to excel in the classroom.  A few academic highlights include:

  • Led the Sun Belt with an athletic department GPA of 3.34 for the 2021-22 academic year.
  • Nearly 200 student-athletes recognized on the Sun Belt Commissioner's List or Honor Roll.
  • Twenty-four student-athletes—another Sun Belt high—received the Academic Excellence Award from the 1A Faculty Athletics Representatives for graduating with a cumulative grade point average of 3.80 or better.
