The Department of Biology provides undergraduate and graduate students with training and education in the Biological Sciences. Our students conduct cutting-edge research that advances our understanding and application of biological principles and uses faculty and student expertise and outreach programs to support community needs.
Points of Pride
- Georgia State scientists, students, and educators bring hands-on activities and demonstrations to Georgia k-12 schools, generating a sense of excitement about science via the Bio-Bus program. A Bio-bus is a novel concept in science education involving a bus that has been equipped as a self-contained, mobile laboratory used to educate K-12 students in biology basics.
- Our Master of Biology Medical Sciences program is designed to help prepare students to apply to medical school and succeed in rigorous first year of coursework.

We did it again! With the support of the entire Panther Family, we set many new records this year on Georgia State Day. More than 2,700 gifts generated over $930,000. Donors supported 258 university initiatives and unlocked 54 challenges and matching gift opportunities.
Thousands of Panthers roared to celebrate Georgia State Day. Our fourth annual day of giving has raised more than $823,000 from 2,530 gifts, and we're still counting!
