Questions and Answers

Below you will find answers to many common questions about Georgia State Day 2021.

What is Georgia State Day?

Georgia State is a national model of student success committed to removing barriers to achievement for students from all backgrounds. With the most advanced technology on our side and a personalized approach to student success, we are a trailblazer in higher education. Gifts from individuals, like those received on Georgia State Day, fill in the gaps of state funding and create and sustain the innovative programs that uplift students and remove barriers. Most Georgia State students come from disadvantaged backgrounds or historically marginalized communities and donor gifts power the programs that help them along their path to a college degree. On Georgia State Day you can stand with more than 2,200 other supporters and hundreds of volunteers to show Panthers you believe in The State Way and you believe in them.

How can I make my gift?

Visit https://thestateday.gsu.edu between 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 28 and 7:13 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 29.

Is it possible to make a gift by mail or by phone?

Because Georgia State Day is a 1 day, 9 hour and 13 minute giving campaign, we strongly encourage you to make your gift online. This is the only way to assure your gift will qualify for matches and challenges taking place throughout the event. To give by phone, you may call 404-413-3402 from 10 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. EDT Tuesday September 28 and from 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. EDT Wednesday, September 29, but we cannot guarantee these gifts will count toward giving matches and challenges.

Why should I participate in Georgia State Day?

Few institutions in America are on Georgia State’s upward trajectory. Few have moved so far, so fast. Georgia State is nationally recognized as an institution with the courage to foster innovation and pursue new directions and ideas. A commitment to Georgia State is a commitment to an institution with a record of success. Your support will help us continue to make a difference in the lives of our students, recruit and retain renowned faculty and enhance our position within the city of Atlanta.

What areas can I support?

Please review the participating groups on our main page and find the area you wish to support. Each participating group has selected funds that will have a lasting impact on Georgia State and our students. While there are specific funds for specific purposes for each participating group, most groups also have a Fund for Excellence that provides unrestricted resources to help Georgia State's schools and departments make strategic investments in the areas they are most needed.

What are Matching and Challenge Gifts?

Challenges and matching funds help drive competition between and increase support for participating groups by setting giving benchmarks or goals during a designated time. If those goals are met, those the challenge gift or matching funds are unlocked and allocated to that area of support. Participating in challenges and matching opportunities throughout Georgia State Day are a great way to make your support go even further. A complete list of challenges will be on the Challenges page, and active matches and challenges can be viewed on the main landing page and the participating group landing page for the benefiting area. Check back for updates throughout the event.
